I think it is probably a Midwestern mindset to always focus on the practical; this doesn’t necessarily discount aesthetics. Furniture, custom designs and timber framing can embody both these philosophies. 


Functionality is also a motivation, which led to entering the construction industry. Timber framing appealed to me in the same way furniture did; the process is challenging and fulfilling.
